Atelier Zweig is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for collectors and institutions worldwide. Our policies reflect our commitment to authenticity, professional standards, and the secure transit of rare material.
Atelier Zweig LLC sells rare books, manuscripts, and related printed material with careful attention to bibliographic accuracy, authenticity, completeness, provenance where known, and condition.
We guarantee the authenticity of every item we sell and, where applicable, its completeness as described. We collate our books where appropriate and note material defects known to us in our published descriptions, including significant defects, restoration, incompleteness, supplied material, ownership history, or other relevant features where applicable.
All items described as “first edition” are first impressions, first printings, or first issues, unless otherwise stated.
Atelier Zweig LLC observes professional rare-book trade standards in cataloguing, pricing, condition description, authenticity, disclosure of material defects or restoration, and fair dealing with collectors, institutions, and the trade. We aim to describe all material accurately and to disclose significant defects, restorations, supplied material, incompleteness, or uncertainty where known.
All items are sent on approval and may be returned if found unsatisfactory for any reason, provided that Atelier Zweig LLC is notified within 14 days of delivery.
Each item is accompanied by an invoice, receipt, or written description, and where applicable a condition report, recording the description under which the item was offered. This documentation serves as Atelier Zweig LLC’s written statement of description and authenticity. If a customer requires a separate certificate of authenticity for institutional, insurance, or collection records, please contact us at the time of purchase.
All shipped items are professionally packed and, where shipped by Atelier Zweig LLC, fully insured.
All items remain the property of Atelier Zweig LLC until payment has been received in full.
All items are subject to prior sale. Placing an order through atelierzweig.com does not guarantee availability until the order has been reviewed and confirmed by Atelier Zweig LLC.
Because many items are unique, consigned, represented on behalf of another owner, or offered simultaneously through multiple channels, we may need to confirm availability, location, shipping origin, and final shipping arrangements before completing an order. If an item is no longer available, we will cancel the order and refund any payment received.
Atelier Zweig LLC is operated from the United States, with its principal address at:
Payments through atelierzweig.com are processed in the United States.
Shipments may be conducted from either our California location or our Norwegian representation, depending on the location of the item, the destination of the order, and the shipping method we determine to be most appropriate.
Books are wrapped and protected with appropriate archival or protective materials, cushioned to prevent movement, and packed in a sturdy box suitable for the item’s size, weight, and value. Fragile, oversized, vellum-bound, manuscript, or high-value items may require additional packing, double-boxing, or specialist handling.
All shipments are sent with tracking and may require a signature on delivery. High-value, fragile, or irreplaceable items will ordinarily require signature confirmation.
Unless otherwise agreed, we use reputable carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, Posten/Bring, or comparable postal or courier services.
Shipping charges may be calculated at checkout, included in the item price, or quoted separately before dispatch.
International shipping is complimentary on orders over $750 placed through atelierzweig.com, unless the shipment requires special freight, unusually heavy or oversized packing, special handling, or another non-standard shipping arrangement. Complimentary international shipping over $750 cannot be combined with any other shipping discount, promotion, or special offer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For orders of $750 or less, international shipping charges vary based on destination, value, weight, size, insurance requirements, and carrier availability.
Complimentary shipping applies to transportation costs only. It does not include customs duties, import VAT, local taxes, brokerage fees, local handling charges, storage fees, or other governmental or carrier-imposed import charges.
Delivery times vary by shipment origin, destination, carrier, customs processing, and the nature of the item.
Domestic U.S. shipments are generally delivered within 3–8 business days after dispatch. International shipments are generally delivered within 5–10 business days after dispatch, though customs procedures, import restrictions, local postal services, carrier disruption, force majeure, or incomplete delivery information may cause delays.
Orders placed over a weekend, holiday, or outside normal business hours will generally be reviewed and prepared on the next working day. Dispatch times may vary depending on payment verification, item location, packing requirements, carrier availability, and customs documentation.
Expedited or courier delivery may be available for certain items and destinations by prior arrangement. Additional charges may apply. Delivery times depend on the item’s location, destination, payment verification, packing requirements, carrier availability, and customs documentation.
Where available, expedited shipments may be sent by FedEx, UPS, DHL, or another suitable courier. Some carriers are unable to deliver to P.O. boxes, parcel lockers, freight forwarders, or unverified third-party addresses.
Delivery is completed when the item is delivered to the address provided by the customer, including where delivery is confirmed by carrier tracking, signature, or other delivery confirmation.
If no one is available to accept delivery, or if the carrier returns the shipment because it is unclaimed, refused, or undeliverable, please contact us promptly to arrange next steps. Additional shipping, storage, customs, brokerage, or carrier charges may apply.
We ship internationally to many destinations. International shipments may originate from California, Norway, Switzerland, or another location depending on where the item is held.
International buyers are responsible for all customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, local handling charges, and other charges imposed by the destination country, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Atelier Zweig LLC is not responsible for delays caused by customs processing, import restrictions, local postal services, carrier disruption, force majeure, or incomplete delivery information.
We declare shipments accurately and cannot mark purchases as gifts or understate values on customs documentation.
Customers are responsible for complying with all laws and regulations of the destination country, including import restrictions, customs requirements, cultural-property rules, CITES rules, sanctions, and local tax obligations.
Atelier Zweig LLC is operated from the United States, and payments through atelierzweig.com are processed in the United States. Certain orders may be dispatched by Atelier Zweig’s Norwegian representation:
Printed books shipped to customers in Norway are generally zero-rated for Norwegian VAT under current Norwegian rules. Where applicable, Atelier Zweig LLC will arrange import and customs handling for items brought into Norway before domestic dispatch. Customers remain responsible for any taxes, duties, import charges, or fees that may apply to non-book items, special materials, or charges not covered by the Norwegian book exemption.
For clarity, the Norwegian representation may assist with storage, packing, dispatch, customer service, and local logistics, but purchases made through atelierzweig.com are processed through Atelier Zweig LLC unless otherwise stated.
Atelier Zweig represents Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG for selected books, manuscripts, and related material from the Heribert Tenschert collection.
Purchases of Heribert Tenschert collection items made through atelierzweig.com are processed through Atelier Zweig LLC. Unless otherwise stated for a particular item, items from the Heribert Tenschert collection are packed and shipped by Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG from Switzerland, unless the inventory is physically located with Atelier Zweig.
For Heribert Tenschert collection items shipped by Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG, insurance and liability for the item during packing, handling, and shipment are covered by Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG, subject to any specific terms agreed for the transaction. Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG is responsible for arranging appropriate packing, carrier selection, insurance, export documentation, and shipment of those items.
Where a Heribert Tenschert collection item is physically located with Atelier Zweig, Atelier Zweig LLC may arrange packing, dispatch, insurance, customs handling, and delivery from its California location or Norwegian representation, as applicable. In those cases, insurance and shipping responsibility will be handled by Atelier Zweig LLC unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Customers remain responsible for any applicable customs duties, import VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, local handling charges, or other charges imposed by the destination country, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Atelier Zweig LLC’s general guarantee, return, and condition-description terms apply to purchases made through atelierzweig.com, except where different terms are expressly stated for a particular item or transaction. Questions about a Heribert Tenschert collection item may be directed to Atelier Zweig, and Atelier Zweig will coordinate with Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG where necessary.
Because many items offered by Atelier Zweig LLC are unique, scarce, or high value, we may require shipment to the billing address associated with the payment method or to another verified address. In some circumstances, we may request additional verification before shipment.
For payments made by wire transfer or other cleared funds, Atelier Zweig LLC may be able to arrange delivery to an alternative address by prior agreement.
We are unable to ship to certain P.O. boxes, parcel lockers, freight forwarders, or unverified third-party addresses where carrier, insurance, payment, or fraud-prevention requirements do not permit it.
For high-value transactions, first-time customers, institutional purchases, purchases through agents or advisers, or transactions involving regulated material, Atelier Zweig LLC may request identification, proof of address, beneficial ownership information, source-of-funds information, trade references, or other due-diligence documentation before accepting or dispatching an order.
Gift presentation may be available by request for certain items. Please contact info@atelierzweig.com before placing your order if the item is intended as a gift or if you have special presentation requirements. Gift presentation may not be available for oversized, fragile, high-value, or specially packed items.
If an item arrives damaged, please contact us immediately and retain the item, packaging, labels, inserts, and all shipping materials. Photographs of the package, packing materials, and item may be required for insurance or carrier claims.
Do not return a damaged item without first contacting us for instructions. Unauthorized returns may complicate or invalidate an insurance claim.
Unless otherwise stated, returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery. Returned items must be returned to Atelier Zweig LLC in the exact state in which they were initially delivered, securely packed, fully insured, and shipped with tracking.
If an item has arrived materially not as described on atelierzweig.com, Atelier Zweig LLC will cover the reasonable cost of return shipping, provided that the customer contacts us promptly, follows our return instructions, and preserves all relevant packaging and documentation.
For all other returns, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping, insurance, customs charges, duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and any other costs associated with returning the item, unless otherwise required by applicable law or agreed in writing by Atelier Zweig LLC.
Please contact us before returning any item so that we can provide return instructions and confirm the appropriate return destination. Depending on the item, returns may need to be sent to California, Norway, Switzerland, or another location. Returns sent without prior authorization or to the wrong address may be delayed, refused, or subject to additional charges.
International returns must be accurately described as “returned merchandise” or “returned goods” on customs documentation. Atelier Zweig LLC is not responsible for customs duties, import VAT, brokerage fees, or other charges caused by incorrect or incomplete return documentation supplied by the customer.
Refunds will be issued after the returned item has been received and inspected. Approved refunds will be made to the original payment method where possible. Atelier Zweig LLC will arrange the refund promptly after the returned item has been received and inspected. Bank, card, and payment-processor processing times may vary.
Refunds are limited to the original purchase price and any initial delivery costs paid to Atelier Zweig LLC, except where otherwise required by applicable law or agreed in writing by Atelier Zweig LLC. Customs duties, import VAT, brokerage fees, local handling charges, and similar third-party charges are not refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Special-order items, institutional purchases, trade sales, consigned items, Heribert Tenschert collection items, items sold subject to separate written terms, and items expressly sold “as is” may be subject to different return terms disclosed at or before sale.
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping information and for accepting or collecting deliveries in a timely manner.
If a shipment is refused, unclaimed, returned because of an incorrect or incomplete address, or otherwise returned for reasons not caused by Atelier Zweig LLC, the customer is responsible for any resulting shipping charges, return shipping costs, storage fees, customs charges, duties, taxes, brokerage fees, or carrier charges. Any refund issued in such circumstances may be reduced by those costs, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
For questions about shipping, condition, availability, insurance, or returns, please contact Atelier Zweig before placing your order.
