Support & Inquiries

Frequently Asked Questions

Common inquiries regarding acquisitions, payment arrangements, shipping logistics, and our collection standards.

Orders, Payment & Accounts

Can I place an order by email?

Yes. Please contact info@atelierzweig.com with the item you are interested in, your shipping destination, and any questions about condition, provenance, payment, or delivery. We are happy to assist with purchases directly.

Are items on atelierzweig.com always available?

All items are subject to prior sale. Because many items are unique, consigned, represented on behalf of another owner, or offered through multiple channels, an order is not final until confirmed by Atelier Zweig LLC. If an item is no longer available, we will cancel the order and refund any payment received.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments through atelierzweig.com are processed in the United States by Atelier Zweig LLC. Available payment methods may vary by order value, destination, and customer verification requirements. For high-value items, first-time customers, institutional purchases, or transactions requiring additional verification, we may request payment by wire transfer or another form of cleared funds.

Can libraries and institutions arrange deferred billing?

Libraries, museums, universities, and other institutions may contact us to discuss purchase orders, pro forma invoices, deferred billing, or other institutional arrangements.

Can you ship to an address different from my billing address?

In some cases, yes. Because many items offered by Atelier Zweig LLC are unique, scarce, or high value, we may require shipment to the billing address associated with the payment method or to another verified address. For payments made by wire transfer or other cleared funds, we may be able to arrange delivery to an alternative address by prior agreement.

Do you ship to P.O. boxes or freight forwarders?

We may be unable to ship to certain P.O. boxes, parcel lockers, freight forwarders, or unverified third-party addresses where carrier, insurance, payment, or fraud-prevention requirements do not permit it.

Why might you request identification or additional information?

For high-value transactions, first-time customers, institutional purchases, purchases through agents or advisers, or transactions involving regulated material, Atelier Zweig LLC may request identification, proof of address, beneficial ownership information, source-of-funds information, trade references, or other due-diligence documentation before accepting or dispatching an order.

Authenticity, Descriptions & Condition

Do you guarantee authenticity?

Yes. Atelier Zweig LLC guarantees the authenticity of every item we sell and, where applicable, its completeness as described. We prepare descriptions in good faith and note material defects known to us, including significant defects, restoration, incompleteness, supplied material, ownership history, or other relevant features where applicable.

Do your items come with a certificate of authenticity?

Each item is accompanied by an invoice, receipt, or written description, and where applicable a condition report, recording the description under which the item was offered. This documentation serves as Atelier Zweig LLC’s written statement of description and authenticity. If you require a separate certificate of authenticity for institutional, insurance, or collection records, please contact us at the time of purchase.

What does “first edition” mean?

All items described as “first edition” are first impressions, first printings, or first issues, unless otherwise stated.

Why might two copies of the same title have different prices?

Prices vary according to condition, edition, issue, completeness, provenance, binding, presentation or association value, rarity, and overall collector appeal. A signed, inscribed, association, specially bound, exceptionally fresh, or notably complete copy may have a higher market value than another copy of the same title.

Can I request additional photographs or condition details?

Yes. Please contact info@atelierzweig.com before purchase if you would like additional photographs, collation details, condition notes, provenance information, or clarification about any item.

Shipping & Delivery

Where do you ship from?

Shipments may be conducted from our California location, our Norwegian representation, Switzerland for certain Heribert Tenschert collection items, or another location depending on where the item is held.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship internationally to many destinations. International shipments may originate from California, Norway, Switzerland, or another location depending on where the item is held.

Is international shipping free?

International shipping is complimentary on orders over $750 placed through atelierzweig.com, unless the shipment requires special freight, unusually heavy or oversized packing, special handling, or another non-standard shipping arrangement.

Does complimentary shipping include customs duties or import taxes?

No. Complimentary shipping applies to transportation costs only. It does not include customs duties, import VAT, local taxes, brokerage fees, storage fees, or other import charges.

How are books packed?

Books are wrapped and protected with appropriate archival or protective materials, cushioned to prevent movement, and packed in a sturdy box suitable for the item’s size, weight, and value. Fragile, oversized, vellum-bound, manuscript, or high-value items may require additional packing, double-boxing, or specialist handling.

Are shipments insured?

Yes, where shipped by Atelier Zweig LLC, items are professionally packed and fully insured unless otherwise agreed. Items from the Heribert Tenschert collection that are shipped by Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG are insured by Heribert Tenschert / Antiquariat Bibermühle AG during packing, handling, and shipment, subject to the terms of the transaction.

Do shipments require a signature?

All shipments are sent with tracking and may require a signature on delivery. High-value, fragile, or irreplaceable items will ordinarily require signature confirmation.

How quickly will my order ship?

Orders placed over a weekend, holiday, or outside normal business hours will generally be reviewed and prepared on the next working day. Dispatch times vary depending on payment verification, item location, packing requirements, carrier availability, and customs documentation.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery times vary by destination, shipping origin, carrier, customs processing, and the nature of the item. Domestic U.S. shipments generally arrive within 3–8 business days after dispatch. International shipments generally arrive within 5–10 business days after dispatch, but may be affected by customs processing or local carrier conditions.

Can I request expedited delivery?

Yes. Expedited or courier delivery may be available depending on the item, destination, and carrier availability. Please contact info@atelierzweig.com before placing your order if timing is important.

Can you mark an international shipment as a gift or declare a lower value?

No. We declare shipments accurately and cannot mark purchases as gifts or understate values on customs documentation.
